Help me to SIMPLY TRUST You, Lord -  for I know You have my best interests at heart. Your Word says that Your ways are not our ways...they are higher and better than our ways. But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.  And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.   And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.  And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer."

Genesis 24:45
"And before I had done speaking in mine heart...." (God hears our thoughts and knows the intent of our hearts)

Jesus prayed out loud in Matthew 26:39,42, 44; Mark 14:35, 39; Luke 22:41-42; John 17:1-26

Luke 18:10-14
"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
(they both prayed out loud.  Should Jesus have commented on staying quiet if that was important?)

I've heard people say that they don't pray out loud because they don't want satan to hear them.  Yet, those same people probably believe that satan can put thoughts inside their heads.

The scriptures don't specifically say satan (and angels) can or cannot hear our thoughts.  Yet, in Daniel 10:7 Daniel heard and saw things  and a spiritual being that others did not.  So, that seems to indicate that it all was done by thought processes.

Joseph heard from an angel in his dreams in Matthew 1:20.  In Acts 10:3 Cornelius saw and heard an angel in a vision.

If satan and his demons cannot read our thoughts then we can probably assume they also cannot transmit thoughts into our heads.  That means that whenever we hear a "still, small voice" then we will always think it is God's voice.  I know I cannot believe all communication I receive is only from God.

What did Paul infer in 2Corinthians 11:3 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ"?

I firmly believe that some fortune tellers, witches, psychics, and the like get at least some of their information from the demonic realm.  Ask one of them how it is communicated.  What does it mean "familiar spirits" in Isaiah 19:3?  Take a look at 1Samuel 28:7-20.

I wouldn't be so sure that the demonic realm cannot hear our thoughts if I were you.

Examples of Prayers

Numbers 6:24-26
"The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: the LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

1Chronicles 4:10
"And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."
Matthew 6:9-13
"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Fasting
Matthew 6:16-18
"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.  But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."
Matthew 17:18-21
"And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."
Luke 2:37
"And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day."
Acts 13:2
"And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away."

Commanding and Demanding
Isaiah 45:11
"Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me."
Isaiah 62:6-7
"I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. "

Expectation and Faith
Psalm 130:5
"I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope."
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." I looked up the meanings of the words in my concordance and have inserted them here:
"Now faith is the substance [existence] of things hoped for [expected with desire], the evidence [conviction] of things not seen."

Repeating Prayers

Matthew 6:7
"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

That sounds like just repeating and repeating with the mouth and not the heart. For example:  there are churches that repeat words of prayer either by memory, repeating what someone tells them to say, or reading out of a book. That is praying hoping to be heard just because they are speaking.

Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." In regards to prayer Jesus told us to ask, seek, and knock.  That sounds rather persistent, doesn't it?  If I ask and don't receive my answer I should begin to seek.  When I am seeking, when I find a door that seems to be closed I should knock.  That shows some persistence.  It also shows variation in the words I use or the way I pray.  So, this scripture does not contradict our first one.
